So summer is ending. Tears all around. While I am excited to get into some fall boots (mmm, boots) I am bummed to give up summer produce. As I mentioned last week with my basil reduction recipe, basil is something that gardens are often bursting with come August. So if you’re all pestoed out and looking for innovative things to do with your basil, try out this delish smoothie, which features blueberries—another seasonal summer staple. Blueberries have been said to be one of the best foods for guys suffering from ED, because they have lots of soluble fiber which pushes cholesterol through the digestive systems, clearing arteries. They also can relax your uppity blood vessels and improve circulation. All of these things can lead to boners abound. Now you see where the smoothie gets its name–because I love alliteration and the word boner.  Oh, you don’t like blueberries? Womp womp. Sub in any berry, you berry grinch.

Blueberry Basil Boner Smoothie

(The most innovative name ever.)
Serves 2

1 cup non-dairy milk. I like almond.
¼ cup orange juice
1 1/2 banana, frozen
1 cup blueberries, fresh
½ cup strawberries, frozen
6 large basil leaves
1 tsp spirulina (optional)

Step one:

Put all ingredients in blender and pulse until creamy perfection is achieved.
