I modeled this recipe after my favorite tofu dish, Sweet Ginger Tofu which I buy from Health in a Hurry in Fairfield, CT.
You will need:
1 package extra firm tofu, drained and sliced into 1/2 inch slices.
2 1/2 tbsp sesame oil
4 tbsp minced fresh ginger
3 cloves minced fresh garlic
1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
3/4 cup unsweetened organic apple juice (I have also tried the recipe with orange juice!)
1/4 maple syrup (the good stuff, no fakers)
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (more or less to taste)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Line a deep baking dish with tofu slices, making sure none of the edges touch (to maximize browning). Mix all ingredients and pour over tofu. Bake for 35 minutes. Rotate the pan, crank up the heat to 500 degrees and cook for 15 more minutes. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning. The tofu should be well browned and dry. The pan is usually pretty messy, and for easy cleaning I soak it before attempting to scrub.
Quick and easy (like your sister..ohhh): When I am short on time, I have also broiled this recipe. The result is not quite as crisp but still good. Place tofu in broiler for 5-6 minutes, then flip the slices over and broil 5-6 minutes on other side. Pay close attention to avoid burning.
My favorite way to enjoy this is over Blazin’ Asian Greens and brown rice or any other grain.

The Sexy Ginger Tofu recipe is amazing! It’s everything you want in just the right amounts – sweet, salty, spicy, sexy! It’s definitely my new favorite tofu marinade and cooking method. The tofu is delicious when it’s still hot and amazing after chilling in the fridge. <3 it
